Losing a natural tooth can affect your appearance but also the way you eat and speak. Nowadays, most patients prefer to replace missing teeth with fixed and permanent options that look like their original teeth.
Dental implants are a customizable, permanent, and durable solution for tooth replacement. At AV Dental Wellness in Lancaster, CA 93535, we provide the most advanced dental implant options to help restore your smile and your oral functionality.
What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants replace missing teeth by imitating natural ones.
An implant consists of three parts:
- Titanium screw
- Implant abutment
- Implant crown
What Are the Benefits of Dental Implants?
There are innumerable benefits to using dental implants to replace missing teeth, including:
- They maintain the integrity of the jawbone after tooth loss
- They preserve the health and structure of surrounding teeth
- They are a fixed solution for replacing missing teeth
- They work and feel like natural teeth
- They improve your ability to speak and eat normally.
- They enhance your appearance by supporting your facial structure
What Is the Dental Implant Placement Process?
Planning is the most important stage of the dental implant process. At AV Dental Wellness Group, we use X-rays to visualize the bone condition and 3D scans to ensure proper placement of the implant.
The titanium screw is surgically drilled into the missing tooth's socket and allowed to fuse with the jawbone.
The bone around the implant screw will grow and fuse with the restoration over a period of a few months.
If required, a temporary restoration may be placed for esthetic reasons while the site heals.
After the healing is complete, the dental implant abutment is fixed to connect the implant to the dental crown.
Once the dental crown is fabricated to exact specifications, we will cement the crown to the abutment.
Can Anyone Get Dental Implants?
Dental implants are recommended for replacing missing teeth. The ideal candidate will have an adequately healthy bone structure to support the dental implant and not suffer from any chronic health conditions.
Age is not a criterion for dental implants. The ideal period to place a dental implant is at the time of tooth extraction or shortly after the tooth is lost. However, we have effectively placed dental implants years after tooth loss.
